Our new building at 40 Park Avenue, Park Ridge, NJ is at the site of our former animal hospital. As you can see, the original hospital was a small building with the main floor occupying approximately 900 square feet.
The hospital was a former bank building which had two exam rooms, a small surgery suite and the bank vault for an x-ray room! The hospital was founded in 1966 by Dr. Edward Mikus. Dr. Mikus was known for his gentle and caring nature and compassion for all animals. Dr. Mikus practiced for 25 years before turning the reins over to Dr. Donna Manderino in 1991. Since then, the hospital has flourished and serves The Pascack Valley, Rockland County and beyond. Currently the hospital has five veterinarians and 15 staff members. Park Ridge Animal Hospital offers preventative medicine including: examination, vaccinations, microchipping and bloodwork. We also provide a full range of diagnostics including labwork, radiology, ultrasound and other medical services. Additionally, the hospital offers a full range of surgical procedures including routine dentistry, surgical dentistry, spaying and neutering and soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. In addition, we offer complementary services like therapeutic laser treatment for injuries and arthritis and acupuncture.
In 2013 we moved to a location on Berthoud Street, which we occupied for five years. We hoped to stay in that location until our new building was completed at 40 Park Avenue. Due to a redevelopment housing and retail project in the area along Kinderkamack Road, we had to find a new location until our final location was ready. Our current temporary location is 236 Grand Avenue in Park Ridge, NJ. We are in the same building as the Oritani Bank (PHOTO). This location has three exam rooms, a surgery suite, x-ray, ultrasound and all the appointments of a progressive veterinary hospital in a cozy space.
Currently, the building on 40 Park Avenue is under construction. We hope to be in our new space by the end of 2018. Check out the photos here:
The new building will include 22 apartments on the second and third floors and five retail slots on the main floor. The hospital will occupy two of the retail locations totaling just under 5000 square feet. We will occupy the third and fourth storefront from the left. The new hospital will feature a spacious and comfortable waiting and reception area, six exam rooms, a full in-house laboratory and pharmacy, a dental suite and a large surgery suite. We will also have facilities to bathe animals, an isolation area and much more. Here is the architect’s rendition of the finished building.
